" To me, leadership is rooted in empathy. When we recognise the struggles of others as our own, we find the courage to act. The Millennium Fellowship is a chance to turn that empathy into lasting change. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Warm Plate Initiative

The Warm Plate Initiative is all about making sure homeless people in London get a hot meal when they need it most. To start with we will cook and pack fresh meals every 2 weeks and personally hand them out in areas where people are struggling. The idea is simple: food is a basic need, and no one should have to go hungry, especially in a city like London. I’ll be working with volunteers to cook meals, raise funds for ingredients, and partner with local shelters or community groups to reach as many people as possible. We’ll also focus on meals that are easy to carry and eat, like rice dishes, soups, or sandwiches. This isn’t about fixing homelessness overnight, but it’s a small way to show kindness and help people get through tough times. A warm meal can mean a lot, it’s comfort, energy, and a reminder that someone cares.

About the Millennium Fellow

Suha Kamran is a Global Humanitarian Studies student at University College London (UCL). Having lived in several countries, she has witnessed inequality in many forms, with her upbringing in Pakistan exposing her to the harsh realities of poverty and homelessness.
She has engaged in community service, including volunteering at her local masjid to distribute food to those in need. Through her studies, Suha explores humanitarian crises, inequalities, and pathways for sustainable change. She hopes to use this knowledge to help homelessness across london.
