UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT PAULINA DOMINGUEZ-VELA, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
University of California Los Angeles | California, United States | Advancing SDG 4 & UNAI 6

" To lead, inspire, and advocate for one's passion, are acts not all dare to perform. But for me, these actions have been my motives and will bring me closer to meaningfully contributing to the communities that surround me. Whether they are my peers, my mentors, or my future patients, I want to make a positive difference to all in my life using the confidence and problem-solving skills I gain from the Millennium Fellowship. I can’t wait to navigate this leadership experience alongside my peers and, simultaneously, achieve a higher level of civic engagement that will bloom an ongoing pursuit of societal wellbeing. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Sexual Health and Education Outreach
The project would aim to educate the 15-24 age group on sexual health. Specifically the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. It would hopefully promote more open conversations about sexual health as it is currently a stigmatized issue which often leads people not to get the help they need. Education regarding contraceptive use and effectiveness would also be involved. STI’s and sexual health at large are a big issue largely because ignorance is the standard in society.
About the Millennium Fellow
Paulina Domínguez-Vela is a dedicated first-generation pre-med student beginning her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. Raised in California’s Central Valley by immigrant parents, she witnessed firsthand the barriers to healthcare minorities face. Her experiences in this medically underserved region fuel her passion for medicine, with an emphasis in Latino health. As a new member of the Millennium Fellowship, she aims to develop impactful initiatives, combining her commitment to equity, her cultural roots, and her drive to address health disparities. Paulina could not be more thrilled to begin collaborating with her fellow Millennium Fellowship peers.
