United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: DIGNITY and INDEPENDENCE PROJECT

The Dignity and Independence Project empowers girls through menstrual health education and soap-making training. By combining knowledge on hygiene with practical livelihood skills, the project promotes dignity, confidence, and independence.
Measurable Goals are to
Reach at least 20–30 girls with menstrual health education.
Train at least 15 girls to make liquid soap for hygiene and small-scale income.
Distribute 10 starter soap portions for home use.
Distribute at least 10 sanitary pads to active participants during sessions .
Collect feedback showing at least 50% of participants improved knowledge and confidence in menstrual hygiene.

About the Millennium Fellow

Doris Hammond is a Special Education student at the University of Education, Winneba, born and raised in a small town called Abeadze Dominase in the central region of Ghana . She is the Alumni President for the Assin Cluster of Compassion International Ghana. She is optimistic and passionate about inspiring and motivating young people to reach their full potential while advocating for disability inclusion and independence. Doris intends embarking on a project she term Dignity in Action, an initiative to promote safe, affordable menstrual solutions for rural girls to protect their dignity and keep them in school. With a vision for social change, she aspires to create inclusive communities and contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
