" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it’s a chance to grow while working on projects that matter. I do this work because I want to see communities have fair access to healthcare and medicines. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: PAD EVERY GIRL

The Pad Every Girl Initiative is a project dedicated to empowering young girls by addressing period poverty and menstrual stigma. It began after an outreach visit to a secondary school where I saw girls embarrassed and withdrawn because boys were mocking them by sticking pads on their backs. The initiative provides access to sanitary products, promotes menstrual health education, and creates safe spaces where girls can feel confident and supported. Beyond pads, the project aims to challenge cultural stigma, engage communities, and ensure girls do not miss school or feel ashamed because of their periods. Its long-term vision is a society where menstruation is normalized, girls are free to learn and dream, and every child grows up with dignity, respect, and equal opportunities.
