I believe this platform will empower me to transform ideas into action, strengthen communities, and inspire meaningful change in the pursuit of health equity. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Project HPV Awareness
Project HPV Awareness and Education, conducted under the Millennium Fellowship, aimed to increase knowledge of HPV among adolescents and encourage early vaccination for long-term disease prevention. The project targeted secondary school students at Ejuona Obukpa Secondary School and was executed on Tuesday, 14th November 2025.
The primary goal was to educate students about HPV, promote early vaccination, correct misconceptions, and create lasting health awareness within the school community. We successfully achieved these objectives by securing a school and delivering a full HPV awareness session. Hundreds of students were educated on HPV, including its symptoms, transmission, prevention, and available vaccines. Misconceptions, particularly around cervical and penile cancers, were addressed, and students were motivated to consider early vaccination with information on where vaccines could be accessed.
The project actively engaged students through Q&A sessions and rewarded participation, while documenting the initiative with pictures and videos. Teamwork was strengthened through collaborative planning and clear role assignments, ensuring smooth execution. Overall, the project effectively raised awareness and promoted preventive health among adolescents, meeting its initial objectives.
