" I believe media is one of the most powerful tools for change, and I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow to sharpen my skills, collaborate with like-minded change makers, and create solutions that empower communities and amplify vulnerable/young voices. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Fact First - Media Literacy Campaign

Fact First by Communicators Corner is a media literacy and fact-checking initiative designed to equip young people with the skills to identify misinformation, verify online content, and navigate today’s digital information space responsibly. Through school-based trainings, practical demonstrations, and real-life case studies, the project teaches students how false information spreads, how deep fakes and recycled videos are used, and how to critically evaluate headlines, sources, and visuals.
This work is especially important because misinformation does not just distort knowledge — it actively slows down social progress. It can undermine public health efforts, fuel conflict, weaken trust in institutions, and obstruct key Sustainable Development Goals.
By improving media literacy, Fact First strengthens community resilience, protects development gains, and supports a more informed, empowered generation capable of driving positive change.
