" Compassion, service, and a deep belief in the power of young people to create change drive my work in healthcare advocacy, education, and community empowerment. Being a Millennium Fellow will equip me with the skills, networks, and global perspective to amplify my impact, aligning my initiatives—such as the Pad Bank Project and educational outreach programs—with the UNAI principles and SDGs. I am excited to grow as a transformative leader and collaborate with like-minded change makers to create sustainable solutions for my community and beyond. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: PadBank Project
This project is called the Pad Bank Project and it is aimed to give solutions to the problem of menstrual equity and dignity amongst girls and women. And, also give some kind of damage repair on the mental health of these affected girls and women. Many females struggle to afford quality menstrual health products/sanitary products and these affect them in so many ways leading to absenteeism from school and work, health issues and infection, stigma and shame. Lack of hygienic sanitary products and use of pads and tampons longer than recommended exposes women to risks of reproductive tract infections. On this project, we’re looking to give solutions to the stigma related to unaffordable or inaccessible sanitary products and also the mental health challenges like anxiety and low esteem, faced by such women and also raise awareness on some discriminatory social norms relating to menstruation. We are also going to educate the girls and women on personal hygiene and proper menstrual health hygiene. Menstrual equity is a social justice issue that needs to be addressed urgently!
