" I am very passionate and intentional in everything I do. I believe women health and women bodies in general isn't talked about enough and something needs to be done about it. I am excited into increased my knowledge , and also horn the skills necessary for the impact I want to make in the world and the SDGs "
Millennium Fellowship Project: THE ÀRÀ MI INITIATIVE
The Àrà Mi Initiative was created to challenge the silence surrounding the female body and replace it with truth, openness, and empowerment.
We are a community of students, volunteers, educators, and advocates working together to equip girls with accurate information about their reproductive health, hygiene, emotions, and self-worth.
We teach that understanding one's body is not a source of shame but of strength. Through mentorship, awareness programs, and interactive forums, we encourage girls to see themselves as whole, capable, and worthy - inspiring them to grow into confident women who lift others along the way.
Arà Mi Initiative - Her body. Her voice. Her power.
About the Millennium Fellow
Omotola Akindele is a young, smart pharmacy student at the college of medicine, university of Lagos. She was born in Nigeria and lives in Lagos (she has never left the shores of her country, sadly). Omotola has always been passionate about advocacy for human rights and importantly education of the girl child about their bodies. This drive stemmed from being in a country where many human rights are abused and a world where women know little to nothing about their own bodies. She has been actively working on research papers on women's reproductive and overall health, and plans to continue to do so with more leadership positions and the platform this fellowship offers. Omotola aspires to be a Research pharmacist where she can further use her platform for the greater good as well as provide her own help and contribution to humanity and the development of the the United Nation's Sustainable Goals (SDGs)
