" I do this work because I know firsthand how lacking basic school materials can affect a child’s confidence and education. As a Millennium Fellow, I'm excited to grow and collaborate with others while working to ensure that children in underserved communities have the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project X: Where Collaboration Meets Impact

Project X is a youth-led outreach initiative designed to empower adolescent boys with accurate knowledge, emotional intelligence, and healthy behaviour mindsets. As Millennium Fellows from the University of Ilorin, we identified a gap in conversations around mental health, gender equality, adolescent development, and male-inclusive health awareness; especially in secondary schools.
Through an interactive 3.5-hour session at Government Secondary School, Ilorin, we engaged over 200 male students using storytelling, scenario-based learning, live demonstrations, and open discussion. Our topics covered Mental Health Awareness, Gender Equality and Male Allyship, Breast Cancer Awareness (including the fact that men can also be affected), and Adolescent Boy Empowerment.
