Millennium Fellowship Project: SAFE CIRCLE CAMPAIGN

Initially when applying for this fellowship, I wanted to work on campaign against drug abuse, however after having a conversation with my friend, I realized it would be more impactful to work together on a particular campaign, she then suggested we work together on Gender Based Violence. This project aims to raise awareness, by educating people on the various form of gender based violence. Although violence can either be against the male or female gender, however violence against the female gender is much more common. Violence against women is a very common social problem in this part of the country. There have been cases of sexual and physical abuse which are seen as normal. In order to stop or reduce this acts, campaigns which will involve distribution of flyers informing and educating the public on the various forms of gender based acts of violence, how they can report to appropriate authorities. Social media campaigns will also be put in place to debunk myths about this issue. We will also collaborate with local authorities and social workers enlightening them on the problem and getting their cooperation. Psychologist can also help counsel women and enlighten women through workshops that would be organized.
