UNITED NATIONS ACADEMIC IMPACT AND MCN PROUDLY PRESENT DAVIES CHIEDOZIE UDAIGWE, A MILLENNIUM FELLOW FOR THE CLASS OF 2025.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University Nnewi | Nnewi, Nigeria | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 3 & UNAI 3

" Perseverance and teamwork, driven by desire to tend and care for Mother Nature.
Being a part of this community, attending lectures, giving my all to their programs anytime and anyday even though it may seem like they aren't making any significant impact in the beginning. Persevering and working with members of my cohort and indeed the entire community by extension will surely garnish these very important skills.
These skills I will gain from this community will make my impact on local communities and families more tangible and aligned with the UNAI principles and SDGs.
I cannot say enough, how excited and thrilled I am to be starting this new journey with you all. It honestly feels so amazing to be amongst like minded individuals who will hone and harness these skills for the betterment of the community and the society at large. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Revive Project
First of all, my project focuses on equipping students with basic first aid and CPR skills. As a certified basic first aider of the Nigerian Red Cross, I have the necessary skills and experience required for emergency response and as a medical student, I'd say it's quite sad that first aid and basic life support are neglected in our curriculum because out there, there are so many lives that's would i've been saved if the onlookers knew how to at least arrest bleeding or administer CPR. Therefore my colleague and I have identified this as a problem and how do we plan to tackle it? Our first project is the establishment of a Nigeria Red Cross unit in our campus (Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi). With this, we'd attract trainers from the State Red cross detachment who'd train the intending Red crossers on Basic first aid. After this, we'd form a larger team of trained first aiders, meanwhile my colleague and I will apply for further first aid training. Having achieved this goal, our next project(s) shall involve the organization of secondary school and intra-campus outreaches in which we will educate young people on first aid and emergency response.
About the Millennium Fellow
Davies Chiedozie Udaigwe is a determined, persistent medical student of the faculty of medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi Campus. He was born in Imo state, lives in FCT Abuja, currently residing in Nnewi, Anambra State for the completion of his MBBS program. He has been to several parts of Nigeria and everywhere he went, he experienced different forms of indiscriminate pollution and utter disregard for the environment. This created a burning desire within him to tackle the issue of climate change on all fronts with every arsenal in his possession as soon as possible. This hunger and zeal has driven him to hold numerous managerial positions in different organizations. From the time he started becoming aware of his surroundings, he knew that something was not right. He later figured out the problem, became head boy in primary school, ensured neatness in the school premises, encouraged hygiene and punished littering. He went on to become the FECAMDS Public Relations Officer 1, where he advocated environmental hygiene to every member of the organization. He then became the Director of Socials for PAC-NET where he also shared his vision of a greener, cleaner environment. He then went on to join the Rotaract community in NAUTH, ROTANAUTH where he dedicates his services to the completion of projects, especially environmental projects.
Davies is excited and thrilled to be found worthy of this opportunity to become a part of this community where together with my rank and file, we can bolster the war against climate change. Within the next few months, Davies would have gotten his MBBS degree and have become a licensed medical doctor. He will also use the medical practice to sensitize his patients about climate change and the need to fight against it, thereby creating even more public awareness. Davies knows that climate change is a very important issue and the need to tackle it can never be overemphasized. He will use every opportunity this community has in store to make sure that the planet Earth we call home will not vanish before our very eyes and by so doing, contribute immensely and tremendously to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
