" " We make social impact because the well-being of each is bound to the well-being of all. Also, the measure of our lives is not in what we take, but in what we give back. Being a Millennium Fellow will allow me to enhance the skills needed in creating this impact in society, and ensure it is aligned with the United Nations' Principles and Goals. " "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Ulcer Project
My project titled "The Ulcer Project" is an initiative aimed at creating awareness on the true causes of PUD, educating communities on proper ulcer care, and promoting preventive lifestyle practices for healthier living. It aligns with the sustainable development goal 3: Good health and Well-being. During the Millennium Fellowship period, the project was implemented through two major activities: a primary school outreach, and an online webinar on PUD. The primary school outreach was conducted because the commonest cause of PUD (Helicobacter pylori) is acquired during childhood; the pupils were educated on hygiene, healthy habits, and proper handwashing techniques. To reach a wider and more diverse audience, including adolescents, youths, and adults, the online webinar was organized; the session focused on debunking ulcer myths, explaining the real causes, care, and prevention strategies of PUD.
