" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a platform to amplify my advocacy for women’s rights, social justice, and the Sustainable Development Goals. I believe meaningful change begins with empowered communities, and I am committed to using my skills to create opportunities that uplift and inspire others. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: ROOTS of RESILIENCE
Roots of Resilience is a project that focuses on building resilient communities through
sustainable agricultural practices. Climate change has led to increased drought and
extreme weather events, affecting agricultural production and exacerbating poverty
and hunger. Moreover, women in these communities, who are the backbone of
agricultural activities, face additional challenges such as lack of land ownership and
abuse, further marginalizing them from the benefits of their labor. The project aims to
address these issues by promoting awareness about women's rights, introducing
drought-resistant crops like cassava, and implementing water harvesting methods to
enhance food security and livelihoods. By empowering women and vulnerable groups,
Roots of Resilience seeks to create a more equitable and resilient future, free from
abuse and exploitation.
