Roots of Resilience is a project that focuses on building resilient communities through
Agriculture Focused Climate change adaptation, Livelihood security and social healing.
The African agricultural system depends on rain-fed agriculture production and due to
climate change extreme weather events have led to increased drought that greatly
affected agricultural production leading increased poverty and hunger. The project
aims to help farmers come up with adaptation strategies using water harvesting
methods in the communities, drought resistant crops like cassava and watering crops
through the roots to reduce on water loss. This helps vulnerable groups like the elderly
and children avoid the effects of food insecurity. Mostly about 80 percent of
agricultural activities are done by women but they face challenges and abuse such as
lack of land ownership and also mostly in rural households women do most of the
