" I believe education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty. Through the Millennium Fellowship, I am excited to strengthen my leadership, collaborate with global change makers, and scale the impact of my work with Tusome Club. This opportunity will help me align my efforts more deeply with the SDGs and create lasting, inclusive change in my community. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Tusome Club Initiative
The Tusome Club Initiative is a simple but powerful idea: create community-based reading clubs where children from low-income backgrounds can access free academic support and value-based mentorship. Instead of waiting for learners to reach schools with limited resources, Tusome brings learning directly to villages—using youth volunteers, donated books, and locally available spaces.
The idea is that when children are given help to read, understand, and think critically—while also being guided to practice honesty, responsibility, and respect—they become more confident, stay in school longer, and develop into responsible citizens. Tusome proves that improving education and character does not require expensive infrastructure; it requires community ownership, mentorship, and consistent engagement.
