" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it aligns perfectly with my drive to live an intentional life ,one guided by intentionality and the principle of do no harm.My passion lies in transforming healthcare for the better and I see this opportunity as a platform that will equip me with tools and experiences that will help amplify my impact. It excites me to seize each day as a chance to grow, learn and be changemaker in healthcare and beyond. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: KUZA project
Our project, aims to establish a community-led library and daycare center in Kibera to address the urgent need for safe, supportive spaces for young children. A community needs assessment revealed that many mothers lack affordable childcare, leaving their children vulnerable to unsafe environments, early exposure to drugs, and limited access to learning opportunities. In partnership with KUZA Trust, our team from the Rotaract Club of Afya is developing a model that will provide early childhood care, nurture a culture of reading, and support at least 30 children in the initial phase. We have identified a suitable site and are now preparing proposals, mobilizing professionals, and planning resource sourcing to ensure the project becomes a sustainable, long-term community asset.
