University of Nairobi Parklands Campus | Nairobi, Kenya | Advancing SDG 3 & UNAI 6

" Scaling my understanding of the realization of socio-economic rights, particularly SDG 4 on education, is my core motivation—my major WHY. I also believe in collaboration and in building a team of like-minded individuals, as the task of realizing these rights is far greater than what any single person can achieve. I hope to learn and exchange ideas at an international forum such as the one offered by the Millennium Fellowship. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: VOICES of STRENGTH
Voices of Strength is a youth-led mental wellness initiative under SDG 3 that empowers young people, especially university students, through peer-to-peer encouragement and offering safe spaces for emotional expression. The project collects anonymous messages of hope and personal stories through a Google Form and shares them on a WhatsApp Channel and Instagram to reach and uplift a wider audience. By amplifying real youth experiences and fostering open conversations on mental health, the initiative aims to reduce stigma, remind young people that they are not alone, and build a compassionate community where seeking help is embraced as strength.
About the Millennium Fellow
Mungai Victor Wamae is a student leader born in Nairobi, Kenya, and is currently awaiting graduation from law school. He has always had a strong passion for social and economic rights, particularly education. This passion may stem from his access to education, which was a privileged considering the suburban neighborhood he grew up in. He has demonstrated his commitment to educational rights by writing a research paper on the subject and actively participating in student leadership throughout his academic journey. His passion was further shaped by his experience volunteering as a teacher in low-fee schools in Kibera’s informal settlements. He is eager to become a lawyer and to advocate for an equal and fair society where every child can realize their full potential.
