" My passion for social impact stems from experiences that shaped my understanding of inequities and difficulties in accessing healthcare services and treatment. Throughout my life, I have seen firsthand how systemic barriers leave marginalized populations without the support they need, particularly those facing homelessness and socioeconomic disadvantages. Becoming a Millennium Fellow is incredibly exciting because it offers the chance to spearhead a community project I care about deeply, collaborate with passionate change makers worldwide, and transform empathy into bold, sustainable solutions that meaningfully improve healthcare access for those who need it most. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Open Arms — Bridging Care

Open Arms is a student-led organization at the University of Toronto whose aim is to advocate, support, and break the stigma surrounding homelessness. The long-term goal of the project is to build community and professional partnerships in the region to help address issues relating to the lack of access to healthcare faced by the homeless population, as poor health may often hinder an individual who is suffering from homelessness from being able to take action to rebuild their life and overcome other hardships.
