Millennium Fellowship Project: Healing Paws

"Animal Therapy and Mental Health Support Center"
The goal of this project is to adopt and train cats and dogs, developing them into comfort animals or well-behaved pets, thereby providing mental health support for college students.
Animal Adoption and Training
Recruit volunteers to help adopt stray cats and dogs, and provide training for these animals to turn them into gentle pets suitable for interacting with humans.
Train these animals to become comfort animals, which will help reduce college students’ anxiety and stress, and provide emotional comfort.
Mental Health Studio
Establish a dedicated mental health studio on campus to offer psychological counseling services, helping students alleviate academic and life stress through guidance.
Introduce sandplay therapy, incorporating animals as part of the sandplay setup. This helps students express their inner feelings, explore their emotions and problems through interaction with animals.
Animal Companion Activities
Regularly organize activities involving interaction with animals. Students can play and relax with these trained animals, easing their mental burdens.
Animals can also help students feel warmth and a sense of security, enhancing their psychological resilience and emotional stability.
Promotion and Publicity
Raise students’ awareness of mental health and animal therapy through activities, lectures, promotions and other means.
Build an online platform to enable students to learn how to make appointments for psychological counseling or animal interaction sessions.
This project not only helps homeless animals but also provides unique mental health support for college students. Combining animal-assisted therapy with traditional psychological counseling, it creates a safe and relaxing space to promote students’ mental health.
