Project Overview

The Ivy Sister Initiative is a menstrual hygiene project aimed at addressing the challenges of menstrual health and hygiene faced by young women in underserved communities. The project works to increase awareness, provide educational resources, and ensure access to menstrual products for those in need. Through partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and healthcare providers, the Ivy Sister Initiative distributes menstrual hygiene kits and provides information on menstrual health to promote dignity, health, and education for young women.

Project Impact

Goal: Raise Awareness About Menstrual Health

Accomplishment: We successfully held five community workshops and awareness campaigns in schools and community centers, educating over 500 young women and community members on menstrual health and hygiene.
What Went Well: These workshops were impactful due to their interactive formats, including Q&A sessions, group discussions, and engaging visual materials. We also partnered with local health professionals to ensure accurate information was being shared.
Goal: Distribute Menstrual Hygiene Kits to 50 Young Women

Accomplishment: We exceeded our target, distributing over 60 menstrual hygiene kits to young women in need across the community. These kits included sanitary pads and educational materials on menstrual health.
What Went Well: The local community responded positively, and many were grateful for the initiative’s support.
Goal: Reduce the Stigma Around Menstruation

Accomplishment: Through storytelling campaigns, school talks, and social media efforts, we were able to reach over 500 people, including men and boys, helping to foster a more open conversation about menstruation.
What Went Well: The storytelling campaigns (featuring both local women and community leaders) had a significant impact in changing perceptions, especially in areas where menstruation was still seen as taboo. The involvement of male community leaders was crucial in destigmatizing the topic.
