Project Overview
"StoP Schau Hin" is a two-months long Instagram campaign with Sticker distribution that focuses on the reduction of Gender-based violence and Intimate Partner violence. It is a cooperation with StoP – Stadtteile ohne Partnergewalt (AÖF), whose expert knowledge was leading in putting together the information and guiding the project towards principles of inclusion and sensitivity. The campaign aims to educate Vienna’s neighborhoods online about partner violence in an inclusive and accessible way while simultaneously providing practical tips for showing civil courage. The goal is for people to understand violence better, learn how to help and to develop an inclusive perspective on the topic. The concept of easy language (B1 level german) is used to break down barriers of information access in the campaign. Two additional collaborations with expert organizations further solidify the expertise of the campaign: "Verein Ninlil" which focuses on empowerment of people with disabilities and the "Gewaltschutzzentren" which also work together with victims of violence. Next to the expert-informed posts and bystander-intervention tips, a sticker distribution campaign in public spaces aims to link the online and the public realm, while simultaneoulsy normalizing the topic. Both parts complement each other. The digital realm has positive aspects such as accessibility, reach, cost efficiency and breaks barriers of time and monetary resources. The stickers in the physical realm increase outreach in the public. The perspective taken in the campaign is an intersectional one: through the concept of the easy language, through the collaboration with experts and throuh the content of the posts. The long-term goal of the campaign is in line with "StoP - Stadtteile ohne Partnergewalt": building informed, inclusive neighbourhoods, who stand up against violence. Additionally, a volunteer helped to create a poster in English for the international students of the Central European University based on the Instagram Posts, which also makes part of the content accessible for non-german speakers at the university.
