I am looking forward to learning more from them about how they consciously work to help solve complex global issues. These are initiatives and people I am confident will shape my mindset and how I choose to move forward in my career. " Millennium Fellowship Project: Global Living and Learning Community I am the community programming lead and residential assistant for the Global Living Community (GLC) at Georgetown University. As the community leader, I spearhead activities and events to facilitate exposure to under acknowledged world issues. This learning also occurs informally through the cross-cultural connections made through shared living spaces, conversations, and opportunities to develop friendships. My vision for this living community is to look critically into and beyond what global news sources are showing us in order to discover more about the populations whose challenges, we as a global community, are oblivious to. The Global Living Community has 28 residential participants. During this past 4-month time period we held 10 events around the theme of global understanding. At the beginning of the Fall Semester, there was a retreat for members to get to know one another through cultural exercises. The GLC also regularly holds “global dinners,” where a member of Georgetown’s faculty is invited to share a meal and a conversation of current global issues with students. This is an opportunity for students to engage with renowned faculty outside of the traditional classroom setting, as well as engage with recent news on a more intimate and conversational level. In order to accomplish this goal of shaping deeper insight, I invite partners with expertise beyond my own to share their experiences with the GLC. This includes Georgetown and School of Foreign Service faculty and researchers, GLC residents, and the 2019 UN Millennium cohort of students with their projects pushing forward the agendas of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Along with this, my greatest value in life is global education and collaboration, therefore the opportunity to brainstorm and take action in alliance with people from all over the world is life-changing for me. " Millennium Fellowship Project: Bridge to Ukraine I would like to create some sort of platform (app or website) that refugees from the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War could use for any support they need. This would include housing, jobs, schooling, food, or anything else that would aid them during these traumatic times. It would act as a social chat site where Ukranians could voice their needs and people could directly connect with them with aid. These refugees need help now, and there is a lack of infrastructure for them to get it quickly and efficiently, so I would create the foundation for these people to get the help they need.
