" Millennium Fellowship Project: Community Volunteer Connect Our mission is to bridge the gap between local nonprofit organizations in need of volunteers and college students seeking meaningful community engagement. As students transition into new environments, they often face a loss of community, contributing to rising levels of anxiety and depression. We aim to accelerate students' immersion into their local neighborhoods through volunteering, which not only enhances mental well-being but also fulfills service requirements for student organizations. By creating a central hub for grassroots nonprofits to list opportunities, we will foster impactful connections where student contributions can make a tangible difference. Leveraging university partnerships and outreach, we strive to expand this initiative, starting with Northeastern University and eventually serving other institutions, ensuring that students engage deeply with their communities rather than larger, resource-heavy organizations. " Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Shuchona Shuchona is a Bengali word that means "The Beginning," It is an initiative that works with the sole purpose of mitigating the stigma of sex education persistent in our society. Considering current circumstances, it is reasonable to conclude that the general people, particularly young people, are unfamiliar with fundamental sex education at some point, which leads to an unfavorable course of events. Furthermore, adolescents going through puberty have a difficult time coping with their growth since they lack sufficient education and guidance. Project Shuchona aims to educate the youth as well as the general population with basic knowledge of sex education, personal hygiene, menstruation, healthy physical relationships as well the concept of consent and emotional connection amongst partners. This project-based on SDG 4: Quality Education followed by SDG 3- Good health and well-being, SDG 5- Gender Equality, and SDG 8- Decent Work and Economic Growth. And UNAI: Human Rights For All. Depending on the state of the Corona pandemic, we may be active on both virtual and physical platforms. This project would be conducted into workshops, followed by a QnA session with one of the field's experts. The workshops would follow our Sex-Ed module, well-being, and good health, focusing on basic concepts like reproductive health, personal and menstrual hygiene, emotional connection between partners, healthy physical relationships, etc. In addition to our regular seminars, we will offer one-on-one consultations and logistical help for basic hygiene as needed. We believe that this sector requires immediate attention, and working bit by bit would result in a massive change. We think our project Shuchona would be the beginning of one of the most positive changes in our social and cultural paradigms. With our constant efforts, we hope to spread the initiative nationwide within 24-36 months. Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai Campus | Mumbai, India | Advancing SDG 11 & UNAI 9 | Emerging Technologist Millennium Fellowship Project: WasteSmart ICT ICT is home to thousands of students, leading to ample waste generation daily. Being an aware and responsible youth, through our project "WasteSmart ICT: Say No to Landfills," our primary goal is to develop a zero-waste plan for our university. We aim to whittle away the garbage disposal in landfills and find practical solutions to ensure the repurposing and reprocessing of every waste within the premises- making the institute "self-sufficient." Beginning by conducting a waste audit to get a gist of the current waste management system and the economics involved, we vision to proceed towards addressing the unsustainable aspects of it. This includes spreading awareness about the importance of waste segregation, such as dry and wet waste, biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, and their appropriate disposal. Post identification, looking through technically feasible interventions to go zero-waste, and updating the institute's waste policies will be aimed, thereby lessening the number of garbage truck visits. Few of us collectively would be responsible for forming a novel club at ICT addressing the multitude of dimensions required for sustainable changes. Initiating waste management, we would later branch out into avenues focusing on other SDGs. "None of us is as smart as all of us!"
