" Millennium Fellowship Project: Sparking Lives Varshini is working on a collaborative project to create a report on educational inequity and lack of digital access by studying two rural Indian villages. Varshini has been passionate about empowering young girls and giving them a voice through her nonprofit organization known as Sparking Lives. Through this project, she hopes to understand how lack of digital access prevents children in rural areas from attending school and denies them access to educational opportunities. This lack of resources combined with gender inequities has created a situation where many families that have a limited amount of resources often choose to send sons to school over daughters. This project focuses on SDGs 4, 5, and 10- quality education, gender equality, and reduced inequalities. She, along with her team will be conducting interviews of nonprofits, students and teachers in the village, as well as nearby homes providing support to orphaned children. For the final report, she hopes to compile these interviews with the goal of identifying the main barriers to increasing digital and educational access. Her aim with the report is to address the current inequity, systems which perpetuate and exacerbate such inequities, and propose recommendations and ways towards which individuals and NGOs can take first steps to reducing this inequity." Corresponding to those listed it indeed is inclusive of the future Moms who currently are enrolled in different high schools. In addition to sexual and reproductive health the tremendous wave of mental health issues will also be covered as it is the core of existence. we planned to address 50 individuals per one session, having 2 sessions per week which will make it 100/week, 400/month and finally 800-1200 by the end of this program but we won;t limit our sessions only to be held on a twice per week based system since we will find other campaigns and public events which we will encounter greater public masses. That community consists of teenage girls aged 12 to 15 who have traumatic backgrounds as early marriage victims and have children. I would like to run a project where we will meet remotely with this community and organize monthly webinars to address common health problems in Africa and their questions from baby care to mother health, HIV to hand hygiene, menstruation to household safety. At the end of each session, I will get a feedback from community members and we will improve our project day by day. These monthly webinars will be a part of our intern doctor’s education curriculum, so the project will be sustainable and structured. " Millennium Fellowship Project: The Educate-Me Pivot The Educate-Me Pivot (T.E.M.P) is an initiative that was driven by the desire to promote quality education of secondary school students living in Mushin, Lagos state, Nigeria. The selected school for our project was Ransome Kuti Senior Secondary Grammar School. Students living in this area experience many challenges in acquiring educational resources and they lack the motivation for learning due to high levels of poverty, illiteracy and underfunding from the government. Our project was aimed at mitigating some of these problems. We coached the students in Senior Secondary School 3, on the necessity of education and possible career paths beyond secondary school. Also, we provided mathematical sets and exercise books for the students. " Millennium Fellowship Project: Big Box Farm Project The Big Box Farm Project is aimed at ensuring year-round access to sustainable and nutritious food by converting an abandoned former K-Mart building into an indoor aquaponic facility. The project is operating in an area of the Midwest where there is higher level of poverty and increase access to nutritional food will play a key role in increasing community health and wellness as well as to stimulate the local economy and better the environment by promoting shopping locally. Additionally, the project focus on the reutilization of existing infrastructure. The projected outcomes of our project by December of 2018 include operating a small scale aquaponics system to serve as a model for our long term goal of a full scale aquaponics facility. This small scale model will allow for experiments to be run on how to most efficiently run the system, as well as better plan for the operating cost and factors of a full scale system. This also provides an opportunity to bring campus and community together through outreach events. Building this relationship is one of the most important focuses for the project moving forward. Another focus will be on fundraising efforts for the purchase of the K-Mart facility and equipment. The long term goal is to create a full scale indoor farming facility and food network for mid-Michigan. This network will provide nutritional local food for large hubs like schools and hospitals as well as for household consumption. The team aims to raise community health and ensure access to nutritional food no matter a person’s income level. Distinction at a go! project is a project that is aimed at advancing goal 4 (Quality education) of the sustainable development goals by achieving academic excellence among students in campus. This project is positioned towards enlightening students on the core values of education, raising competent academic tutors from various levels at various faculties on campus, organizing tutorials across various faculties on campus, creating a reading hub, organizing mock examinations and also partnering with other tutorial organizing forum in creating a compendium on some selected general courses offered in campus that will aid in augmenting the understanding of students and also enhance their overall performance in that course. This project will positively impact more than 500 students. About the Millennium Fellow Teslimah Esanwa is a 400 level Law student of the Lagos State University. She is passionate about selfless service to humanity which made her to join several organizations including the Sustainable Development Goals Awareness Campus Tour Lagos State University(SDG's ACT LASU). " Millennium Fellowship Project: Rising from the Ashes In response to the war that occurred in Lebanon and displaced many individuals, our initiative provided immediate humanitarian aid and psychological support. Through collaboration between Millennium Fellows in Beirut and Byblos campuses, we gathered and distributed essential supplies, including food, clothing, and hygiene items. Additionally, we conducted psychological awareness sessions in schools and shelters to help individuals, especially children, cope with trauma and stress. Our efforts not only addressed urgent needs but also fostered resilience and emotional well-being within the displaced community.
