Alysha Azizul is a computer science student at the University of Malaya. who is very keen on the cause of human rights, especially regarding access to quality education for all levels of people. Her interest in this field stemmed from her involvement during her high school years, where she organized a workshop for her school peers to make traditional Malay embroidery art from her knowledge. She also joined multiple volunteering activities including a cleanup of a turtle reservoir here in Malaysia. From these experiences, Alysha is ambitious to continue contributing to society with her expertise in any way possible. " Millennium Fellowship Project: Big Box Farm Project The Big Box Farm Project is aimed at ensuring year-round access to sustainable and nutritious food by converting an abandoned former K-Mart building into an indoor aquaponic facility. The project is operating in an area of the Midwest where there is higher level of poverty and increase access to nutritional food will play a key role in increasing community health and wellness as well as to stimulate the local economy and better the environment by promoting shopping locally. Additionally, the project focus on the reutilization of existing infrastructure. The projected outcomes of our project by December of 2018 include operating a small scale aquaponics system to serve as a model for our long term goal of a full scale aquaponics facility. This small scale model will allow for experiments to be run on how to most efficiently run the system, as well as better plan for the operating cost and factors of a full scale system. This also provides an opportunity to bring campus and community together through outreach events. Building this relationship is one of the most important focuses for the project moving forward. Another focus will be on fundraising efforts for the purchase of the K-Mart facility and equipment. The long term goal is to create a full scale indoor farming facility and food network for mid-Michigan. This network will provide nutritional local food for large hubs like schools and hospitals as well as for household consumption. The team aims to raise community health and ensure access to nutritional food no matter a person’s income level. About the Millennium Fellow Hannah Chrome is a sophomore student at Alma College. " Millennium Fellowship Project: Shashakt - Empowering Lifes Sashakt is the transformative arm of Impact360, equipping the underprivileged with basic education and skills training that will break vicious cycles of poverty and enhance the quality of lives. The program offered an entire suite of modules focused on developing essential aspects of personal and community development. These include financial literacy, encompassing budgeting and saving; self-worth and empowerment, which affects self-confidence and personal development; and basic English skills, which develop and enhance literacy, communication, and employability. The women's health and hygiene was prioritized that included topics such as period menstruation, access to health care and other important issues of health. In addition Sashakt increased awareness about the workplace legislation on labor rights, fair practices, maternity benefits, and ways to overcome discrimination and harassment at work. Also, in order to make the community more included, the participants were taught government schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and made aware of the benefits of banking systems and savings options. Fraud prevention and online safety, teaching learners not to fall into any scam, how to protect personal information, how to safely engage online, were part of the program. Substance abuse awareness and prevention strategies and ways of handling addiction were other areas that the modules covered. Sashakt was particularly vocal on the balanced diet and nutrition through the teaching of the importance of healthy eating, meal planning, and budget-friendly nutrition. The mosaic of life skills Sashakt gave had provided people with the understanding and the resources to gain not just financial freedom but also gender equality, and to better face life's trials. Thus, it improved the social and economic conditions of the person and succeeded in raising more powerful and resilient communities that had a profound effect on most lives for a long period of time. As a talented generalist, Agustín has focused on empowering others to create social impact through a combination of technology, transdisciplinary research and evidence-based approaches to altruism. The project seeks to eradicate poverty in Ghana and the world at large by reducing the cycle of inequality through better employment and also through good and quality education especially of the girl Child. The project will involve most young ones in entrepreneurial skills such as shoe makers, sewing among others. The project will also donate to charity homes to help the less privilege in the society. This project will both be on online platforms and also going to the less privilege zones in the country donating foodstuffs and clothings reaching at least 5000 to 9,999 people in a month. Nsengimana Espoir is a remarkable individual who is currently pursuing medicine studies at the National University of Rwanda. Originally from Nyaruguru, he now resides in Muhanga, in the southern province of Rwanda. Espoir has always harbored a deep desire to make a positive impact on the world, driven by his passion for bringing about change and innovation. Having been raised in a close-knit family, he has been instilled with the values of honesty and good behavior from a young age. Throughout his secondary education, Espoir has consistently demonstrated his commitment to helping others. He has always been willing to lend a hand to his classmates who were struggling academically, and his selflessness and dedication have earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. Théodore Nizeyumukiza is a critical thinker and student nurse at the University of Rwanda, College of Medicine and health sciences at Rwamagana campus. After graduation in Philosophy in Major Seminary Philosphicum of Kabgayi, he was passionated to impact positively the mind and the health of the surrounding community. Pursuing the Bachelors of science in nursing, Théodore has kept the personality of being problem solver and good leader. he has been a class representative since level one up to now with various witnesses and certificates. Yvette Uwimana is a self-motivated young female whose passion aligns with anything about lifting herself and other underprivileged humans out of their shells. Yvette was born and raised in Burundi and is currently undertaking International Business and Trade at the African Leadership University, Rwanda. If Yvette had all the power worldwide, diversity could never be counted on to engender discrimination. Instead, a tool to accelerate sustainable creativity. Yvette will never close her eyes when her help can solve someone's issue. She identifies herself as an entrepreneur who aspires to make a meaningful impact on her community and the world. To efficiently achieve her goals, Yvette has worked hard toward her career goals and is even hungry for more. With ending poverty goal at heart, Yvette is eager to sharpen her business-doing, economic autonomy, and critical thinking competencies to achieve more promising projects back in her home country.
